Biographical History

Born in Chicago in 1943. After attending Loyola University, Dorothy went to the American Academy of Art in Chicago studying life drawing and oil painting under Douglas Graves and Joseph Vanden Broucke. She was influenced as a child by her father's interest in painting and who also attended the American Academy of Art and later would be President of the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago 1967-69.

Working directly from life or imagination she has been painting outdoors or using the model for the past thirty years. Inspired by her feeling towards the subject, she works using both color and value to create the emotional response she feels.

Her paintings have been exhibited in American Impressionist Soicety Exhibit, Oil Painters of America National Exhibition in Chicago, Women Artists of the West, CA., National Oil and Acrylic Exhibit, MO.,J & W National Painting Exhibition. PA., Old West Museum. WY., Mountain Oyster Invitiational Exhibit, AR.,Gilcrease Museum-American Art in Miniature,OK.,National Assn. of Women Artists, N.Y. Palette and Chisel Academy of Art, Chicago among many others.

Gallery representation has included Volaire Gallery, CT.,Huntsman Gallery, CO., Studio of Long Grove, Il.,Rosequist Gallery,AR., White Oak Gallery, MN.,Broden Gallery, WI.

She has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Daily Herald, Pioneer Press and the Des PLaines Journal.
She has written an article for the Artist Magazine titled 'Gliding over the Details'.

She has given workshops and demonstrations and teaches oil painting.

She has been a member or is presently a member of such organizations as
